5 Minute Vegan Cheese Sauce
This cheese sauce can easily be called the “Mother of Sauces” because of its versatility and how it makes almost anything taste better.
It’s got a silky-smooth texture and has a universal flavour which you can build on.
Slather it on your nachos, pizza, macaroni, burger or cook it into your appetizers. Warm oozing cheese can never be a bad idea!
INGREDIENTS : –
- 1 cup cashew milk / coconut milk (or any plant milk with high fat content)
- 4 tbsp nutritional yeast
- 2 ½ tbsp corn starch
- ½ tsp ground yellow mustard
- ½ tsp salt (or to taste)
INSTRUCTIONS :-
- Add all ingredients to a sauce pan and cook on medium-low heat for 2-3 minutes. (Note : Gradually whisk in the milk to avoid lumps.)
- Bring to a simmer and stir continuously until the sauce is thick and stretchy.
- If required, add more milk to thin out the sauce (remember, the sauce will continue to thicken as it cools).
- You can either leave it plain or add flavours like onion powder, smoked paprika or garlic powder.
Add it into your dishes or serve as a dip.
