Belgium Waffles (Gluten-free + Vegan)
Let’s be honest, if we could, we would all be eating waffles for breakfast every day!
And with this vegan, gluten-free and sugar-free waffle batter, this is now possible!
You can skip the baking powder and replace it with equal parts of vegan buttermilk.These waffles are light, crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside and pairs well with a variety of sweet or savoury toppings – from whipped cream, maple syrup, fresh fruits and ice cream to avocados, fried mushrooms and corn, the list is endless!
INGREDIENTS :-
- 1 1/2 cup oat flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup plant-based milk
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 1/2 tsp apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 3-4 tbsp maple syrup
- 1/2 cup vegan butter or coconut oil, melted
INSTRUCTIONS :-
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together milk and apple cider vinegar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes to thicken and curdle.
- In another bowl, sift the oat flour and baking powder.
- Stir in the maple syrup, coconut oil, vanilla extract and curdled milk. Mix to form a thick and smooth batter.
- Heat the waffle iron as per the recommended heat setting.
- Grease the waffle grid with oil and ladle the waffle mixture to fill the entire lower grid.
Cook until golden and crisp. Serve immediately with topping of choice.
