Vegan Alfredo Sauce
While the authentic Italian Alfredo sauce is typically made with butter and parmesan cheese, our vegan version is made with plant-based milk, cashews, nutritional yeast and a few other warm ingredients.
This white sauce is rich, creamy and exudes flavours of umami, and the best part? It comes together in under 30 minutes!
Say goodbye to store-bought Alfredo sauce by whipping a batch of your own!
INGREDIENTS : –
- 2 cups plant-based milk, unsweetened
- 1 onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 cup cashews
- 1 tbsp oil or vegan butter
- 2 tbsp nutritional yeast
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- 1 1/2 tsp lemon juice
INSTRUCTIONS : –
- In a pot, soak cashews in hot water and cover with a lid for about 15 minutes or until tender.
- Heat oil or butter in a sauce pan over medium heat.
- Add the onion and garlic. Sauté until fragrant.
- Remove from heat and allow to slightly cool before transferring to a high-powered blender along with the drained cashews, milk, nutritional yeast, salt, pepper and lemon juice.
- Blend until smooth and creamy.
- Stir into your pasta or serve as a dip or dressing.
